SINGAPORE IS THE COOLEST PLACE I HAVE EVER VISITED

May 30, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

The coolest place I have ever visited is Singapore. It was the country where I was born. My mother is a Singapore citizen and my dad is an Indian citizen. After my mother got married to my dad she settled here. I had a chance since I am a citizen of Singapore. It is country where the government takes care of their people so much. Government shares their profit with their people. It is country where we can see people filled with gratitude and respect to other people. It is country of very clean environment and pollution free. That is why it is a coolest place.

A GOOD CHANGE IN ATTITUDE

May 26, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

I used to be always reserved, calm and quiet from my childhood. It is because I am the only child to my parents. I have no many friends from my childhood. I never used to share things or my feelings to any of my friends. I used to be known as the “Secret Box” by my friends. It is not because I do not believe my friends but I really do not want to share anything to anyone. But now something new with me. I started to get along with people easily. I never hesitated to share my thoughts to my friends. It is all because of the MBA degree I pursued. It groomed me as a good human.

How to train your dragon-The movie

This is the latest movie that I watched, and it is an animation movie; from the makers of Bolt. Another plus is that Gerard Butler has lent his voice for the lead character (Well, it is a big plus for me!) In a word- I loved the movie! It is a movie that focuses on doing what you think is right and following your heart. It also touches on issues that deal with bravery, love and trust. Hiccup’s goal is to become a Viking; one needs to slay a dragon to become a Viking. But instead of slaying his dragon, he goes to befriend it and the duo mutually respects and loves one another. Now in Hiccup’s land, dragons are to be killed at sight. The story is about what happens when the secret leaks out. Highly recommended!

Always Be Ready

It is so important for residents to have powder fire extinguishers in their home. You never know when you might need one. Last Christmas my family was in town and we were all together for the holiday. I went to take a nap and I woke up to a smoke filled house. I went downstairs to see what was going on. I knew we had the fireplace going before I went to sleep but I could not tell what was going on. It turns out that the glass by the fireplace shattered and the fire had jumped out and was starting to spread. Luckily, my brother and sister were in the room at the time so they grabbed the powder fire extinguisher and put out the fire. The next day, my brother and I went to the store to buy a powder fire extinguisher. You can never be too safe.

Emma

The latest book that I read was Emma, by Jane Austen. I know it is supposed to be a classic and Austen is one of the most popular writers of all times, but due to some strange reason, I simply could not connect to it. I read Pride and Prejudice and I loved it. Maybe I expected too much out of Emma. I found it very long and very boring. A single person’s dialogue would run for two pages! It was very trying, but out of sheer boredom, I kept reaching out for it and finally finished it. I think it would be a while before I tried another Austen novel!

Listen to Smokey Bear!

If you catch on fire, don’t run in circles or look for a pond. Stop, drop and roll, because it really works. When it comes to putting out fires, water won’t always work. In the case of an oil fire, water will just make it worse! To put out these fires, you can do one of a few things: 1) Use water fire extinguishers. Aim it at the base of the fire and spread the substance all along the flame’s base until the fire ceases. 2) Cover the fire in sand. It works, since sand isn’t flammable. 3) Block the fire’s path. Let’s say there’s fire going through a field of brush in the desert. Remove a straight line of brush and create a “trench” that the fire can’t pass through. It will burn itself out. Those are some simple tips to save your own life or that of someone else. Listen to Smokey Bear!

To those who have not heard of Indian Chaat, it is a variety of dishes that are a sort snack, to be eaten at tea time. But of course, no body sticks to the time regulations- I might even have it for lunch, if I was in the mood for some light food. My favourite chaat food would be Samosa. It has a spicy filling that is wrapped in dough and fried to golden and served with chutney or ketchup. My second best is Bhel Puri. It is a colorful mixture made out of puffed rice, boiled vegetables and powdered spices- spicy and very tasty!

My time table

May 10, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

I am supposed to be on a holiday now, till I start work in June. So I am enjoying the bliss of my pre-job days thus: I wake up late (Ah the satisfaction!) and scout around for food. Usually breakfast would be bread with butter, but if I am in the mood for it, it would graduate to a sandwich of sorts. Then I would pull out the novel that I would have gone to bed with the previous night. Or I would check my e mail, or some girl friend would call to chat up, or make shopping plans. So lunch would pass thus. I tutor French for a few kids in the evening, for some extra pocket money. And all too suddenly, it is time for dinner! Post dinner, I catch up with friends who are in other continents- The time difference, you see. And then, bed time!

If I had one wish…

I never had the opportunity of meeting my maternal grand dad because he had died just two months before I was born. But my mother keeps telling me of how much I remind her of him: We both share a love of reading, we both have strong socialist ideas and even my nose supposedly resembles his! And she keeps telling me of what a fine man he was, that I have always wanted to meet him, to just get to know him. I have always shared some sort of a bond with him, and I reckon it just would be nice to know if he is the man ever body claims him to be!

Jobs I don’t Like

May 2, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

The longest job that I ever held was technically a very short one, compared to other jobs that I have signed up for in the past; but it was just so boring, all I wanted to do was to get done with it as soon as possible. It involved standing on a counter at a store and promoting a new Sun Screen Lotion, and promoting it good enough that at least two people bought it every day. But the product made the skin oily, and soiled ones make up- even I wouldn’t buy it! It was no surprise that I failed miserably at it. To add to the horror was the person I was reporting to- She was a terror, and would yell at me for not reaching targets; I quit just as soon as I had signed up for it!
