My Music Melee

April 30, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

I listen to music from almost all genres but the songs that appeal to me the most are the ones with lyrics that pull at my heart strings. Music is the food of love and a powerful ballad can leave you head-banging in ecstasy or crying with passion. With so many options available today from the dance beats of hip-hop to the beautiful melody of classical jazz, the one genre that still has the largest impact on me is soft rock music. It is a combination of beautiful lyrics and passionate melody that can ease the daily frustrations and take one away to a place of nirvana or a hideaway of solace.

Memory About A Book Of Memories

The last book I read was Cecilia Ahern’s “Thanks for the Memories.” It was a touching recount, through letters, of the relationship best friends had shared through the years. The twists and turns throughout the book kept me on the edge of my seat and it’s a real page turner. I wanted to keep reading it, but at the same time I didn’t, because I knew that the faster I read, the closer I would be to finishing a book that I did not want to put down. The writing style is casual but catchy, each page draws you in further to a story that gives you hope that maybe what is meant to be, will be.

The True Benefit of Fire Safety Devices

April 26, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

The average home owner has probably outfitted his or her home with the most common of fire safety devices: the smoke alarm. However, smoke alarms are not fool proof, and hundreds of lives are lost each year because of a lack of another crucial element in the fight against fires: co2 fire extinguishers. Many fires begin when the occupants are home and awake. In cases such as these, a fire extinguisher is necessary to extinguish fires quickly and easily. Doing so will prevent loss of life, and even unnecessary loss of property. Fire extinguishers are not just for businesses and large buildings. Every home owner can benefit from having one.

Favorite Foods

April 23, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

I enjoy continental, Chinese and Italian cuisine. Barbecues are an all-time favorite as well. Usually I prefer food that is savory without being too spicy. It must be cooked well. I love desserts, pastries and ice-cream but do not like any with too much cream. I love dutch truffle cake. I relish a few chocolate brands, but do not like plain dark chocolate or peanuts mixed with it. I am very selective about sweets, only liking a few choice types. I don’t like chewing gum. My favorite candy is slight tangy and sour. I love fast foods like pizzas, pastas and the whole gamut of fast foods.

Just A Day In My Life

April 19, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

A typical day in my life right now involves getting up at around nine o’clock and having coffee and cornflakes. I can’t start my day without a good cup of coffee. Then, I go online and check my emails and Facebook. I plan the day’s activities – whether it be meeting friends or going to work or what activities I should do on the computer. If I don’t have to go to work, I may have other works to do like typing letters or getting papers in order, or completing assignments online. After lunch I usually meet friends or read a book. In the evening I must have another cup of coffee with some sort of pastry, make a few phone calls, complete any pending assignments, visit my grandmother and finally, go home. That is followed by dinner, a contemplative walk under the stars, maybe a few more phone calls and finally, restful sleep.

Importance of Fire Safety

April 15, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

The importance of fire safety cannot be overestimated. Never leave children unsupervised near an open source, or allow them to play with matches or lighters. In the winter, clean your fireplace of ash and soot on a regular basis. Do not leave burning candles unattended. Always make sure you have fire alarms on every floor of your house or apartment, and that the batteries are fresh. You can learn how to use a fire extinguisher at your local fire station. Fire extinguishers are not toys; do not ever let anyone play with them. If you live on a farm or have horses, make sure you have fire extinguishers in the barn.

Tryst With A Saint

If I could meet anyone in this world, it would be Mother Teresa. She was a woman of substance, and I would want to know what kept her going, how one person could touch the lives of so many and still not lose her humility. I would ask her what pushed her forward, to keep believing when all around her was so much suffering and pain. I would crave her inner peace and sanctity despite all the horrors that she had seen. Mother Teresa had so much opportunity and yet she chose to sacrifice all worldly material possessions in the service of the sick, poor and needy. It takes a truly good soul to see suffering and depravity and yet be unscarred by it.

The longest job I held was as the post of Web Designer for a High School. It also involved designing the school’s Year Book. I got paid by the hour, which was great. Even though it was just a part time appointment, it was something that I greatly enjoyed because I have always been a little in love with computers and graphic designing and I got the chance to release my creativity in more ways than one. When you love what you do and get paid well for it, that’s when you know that you are in the right field. I loved my job and actually looked forward to every time I had a new assignment. Unfortunately, change of country forced me to have to leave.

Rock Rules

April 8, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

The coolest event that I have ever been fortunate enough to attend was the Annual Dubai Rock Festival. It was an all day Rock Fest with superstars like Sepultura, the Darkness, Hoobastank and many more international rock bands. It was my first hard rock concert and an eye opener, to say the least. The highlights of the show for me were when I caught the drum stick caught by one of the bands and later shook hands with the lead singer of the Darkness. It was a head banging evening and I got the chance to see people form a pit and go absolutely crazy in it. The performances were mind blowing and it is an evening I will never forget.

Superb Safari!

April 5, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

If I could choose to travel anywhere on holiday, I would choose to go on safari in Masai Mara, Kenya, the largest game reserve in the world. There is just something so relaxing and awe-inspiring about the proximity to nature when you go on safari that few other vacations can replace. It is a combination of relaxation, tourism, history and nature all rolled into one exciting power-packed package that is difficult to beat. One week in the wild seeing the animals up close and personal takes you far away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life on a journey on which you are sure to find whatever it is that your spirit seeks.
